If you are looking for some games to play on your Google Android phone, but do not know which ones to go for, let this round up be your guide:

Slide Puzzle - This is a touch screen version of the classic stocking filler that is the 15-piece slide puzzle game. Well executed, and makes good use of the touch screen interface.

Snake - If you are fed up of all the recent sluggish and discombobulating 3D versions of Snake, then you will be delighted to learn that a version of the original 2D mobile gaming masterpiece, based on the arcade classic Centipede, has been made for the Android. This version uses the trackball, which is not as good as a joypad for this type of game but it is still great fun to play.

Sokodroid - The aim of this top-down 2D puzzle game is to push blue squares into holes with your square. Although this game can be played with the trackball or the touchscreen, the latter is almost impossible as you cannot place your square accurately if you cannot see it.

Solitaire - Fans of the classic Windows card game adaptation Solitaire may be disappointed to learn that this version is rendered vitually unplayable by the limitations of the touch screen device, which almost completely precludes accurate dragging and dropping.

Speed - Ever wanted to play Pong up and down the screen instead of across the way? Then download Speed, and all your dreams will come true! Using your finger makes it hard to move the bat with any accuracy, and it also kind of gets in the way of being able to see what is happening. However, if you can work around these difficulties, then it can still be a fun game.

Sudoku - A couple of years ago it looked like SuDoku was going to eclipse the crossword as the number one newspaper puzzle, but things have cooled off a little since the heady days of Carol Vordemans SuDoku challenge. It can still be fun though, but not in this touch screen adaptation, as the squares are so small that you will frequently find yourself pressing the wrong areas.

Tap Tick - A rapidly advancing counter needs to be stopped by an intrepid button presser as soon as it hits a certain number, and no later. In case you were wondering, that person is you, but if you do not download this terrible game, then it does not have to be.

Tetroid - If you like Tetris, then chances are that you will enjoy this similarly titled knock off too. Although the accelerometer controls are a little hard to get used to, once you do you will soon be back in the old routine.

Trap! - The aim the game in this touch screen version of the mobile phone gaming classic is to trap bouncing balls within as small a region of the screen as possible, without being hit by one while you are drawing a line. It is not bad, but the touch screen can be a little finicky.
