With today’s technology capturing your evening is a piece of cake, it’s just a matter of pointing and shooting. It’s being in front of the camera that is more difficult, so you may want to think about it before the prom to prepare for the photo op as best you can.
Prom is about stunning apparel, amazing concept, dancing and joking, as well as, possibly most importantly, about making great memories while hanging out with your best friends. Memories, when fresh, are vivid, but with time they fade. Fortunately, you can make them last forever with a ton of great pictures. With today’s technology capturing your evening is a piece of cake, it’s just a matter of pointing and shooting. It’s being in front of the camera that is more difficult, so you may want to think about it before the prom to prepare for the photo op as best you can.

Professional photographers take great pictures, but they are not the only ones taking photographs. These days, when cameras are very easy to use, more and more amateurs fancy themselves photographers, so you can be sure you’ll be sot at by all kinds of prom attendees in additional to the hired photographer. To look your best in all, the professional and the amateur shots, simply start getting ready before you even pick out your dress.

When browsing all the beautiful prom dresses 2012 looking for your perfect gown think not only about what you see in the mirror facing it, but also what a camera may see when you’re turned sideways. Look in at yourself in your possible prom dress at all angles, including slightly from up high and down low, t see what a camera will see, so you can choose the most flattering silhouette. In addition to the cut, take a look at the fabric, keeping in mind that very shiny, very pattern-busy or see-through fabrics are not very picture-friendly.

Choosing the right prom dress is only the first step in getting ready for your prom pictures. The next thing is practicing your poses and smiles. You don’t want to look fake or stiff in your pictures, but you want to look your best, so try out different positions and faces and learn to automatically bring your favorites around, so when somebody points a camera at you, you can naturally take the pose you know will look great.

The right dress and a selection of great picture poses will get you ready, while the right make up will polish you off. Choose colors that will make you look natural, only a bit done, make sure to take care of all skin imperfections and complete your make up with photo finish so you’re not shiny in your pictures. And during your prom don’t focus on your make up but be sure to touch it up on occasion so it’s not all messy from vigorous dancing.

Lastly understand that irrelevant of the total number of prom gowns you’ve looked at, how much effort you put into perfect hair and make up, or how many poses you have practiced, the best thing you can have to assure great photos is fun. Enjoy the evening, dance, laugh and chat, be aware of cameras, but don’t focus on them too much. A couple of pictures when you’re caught off guard by the photographer can be a nice addition of your otherwise perfect selection. The will be the perfect reminders of the fun at your prom.
