Smile is the most beautiful part of any individual. Your smile can brighten up someone else’s day. But what if there comes a day when you can’t smile or feel embarrassed to smile that too because of your missing tooth? Anyone can anytime in his life come across a situation where unfortunately you have a missing tooth. In the past, dentists would try to maintain or reinstate teeth with treatments such as root canals, bridges, and fixed or detachable dentures.
Unfortunately, a noteworthy number of root canal treated teeth fail, bridges necessitate that healthy adjacent teeth be cut down and detachable dentures can often be unhinged and require the use of sticky adhesives. Dental implants are a clarification to these problems, and many of the concerns related with natural teeth are eradicated, including dental decay. A dental implant is a metallic source of a tooth. It is positioned in the bone of your jaw by a dental implant dentist and allowed to cure in the bone for a period of time until the bone-implant blend is strong enough to sustain a prosthetic tooth. The implant is crafted out of titanium, a metal that is very well endured by the human body.
The next significant question that needs to be answered is that what kind of dentist needs to be consulted for dental implants. Well, the answer to this is that any dentist can place or reinstate a dental implant. Dental implants are usually positioned by Oral Surgeons, Periodontists, Prosthodontists or General Practitioners. Prosthodontists and General Practitioners will usually be the ones who refurbish the teeth. You should start by discussing with your general practitioner or a prosthodontist and conclude how much experience and guidance they have in the general field of Dental Implantology. If you select to go with one of these practitioners, you can pursue their recommendation as to who will essentially place your dental implant.
The tooth implant process is generally a three-part process that takes quite a few months. Your dentist may render the treatment, or you may be referred to a professional - such as a periodontist, a prosthodontistor an oral and maxillofacial doctor - for all or fraction of the treatment. In the first step, the dentist surgically reinstates the implant in the jaw, vaguely above the top of the bone. A screw is introduced into the implant to avoid gum tissue and other debris from inflowing. The gum then is safe over the implant, where it will remain enclosed for approximately three to six months while the implant blends with the bone, a procedure called Osseo integration.
In the second step, the implant is revealed and the dentist affixes an extension, called a "post," to the implant. The gum tissue is permitted to mend around the post. Once healing is full, the implant and post will serve as the basis for the new tooth. In the final step, the dentist makes a tailored artificial tooth, called a "dental crown," of a size, shape, color and fit that will merge with the other teeth. Once concluded, the crown is fastened to the implant post.
If having a missing tooth, opt for dental implants and smile your best smile!
