On the other hand, the chief raw material for manufacturing plastic bags is petro-chemicals. And these are the chemicals made up from crude oil or petroleum. And we are aware of the fact that oil is a non-renewable resource. Oil reserves will finish one day. The extensive use of oil today is also harming the environment in one way or the other. The pollution caused by the car emissions and thermal power plants are all associated with oil. Plus the deep sea oil drilling is harmful for the aquatic life. There are hundreds of species living in the deep seas. Marine biologists claim that we know more about the moon than we know about the species living in the deep seas. Just imagine the amount of energy and resources needed to extract oil from sea, which is later refined in oil refineries and then different chemicals are extracted from it. It is highly energy inefficient.
