Research about the business credentials
What is their company and where is it located? What is their business? Are they a fly-by-night online home business company or are their proven and verifiable track records of successful business? Find out who the people behind the company are. Search for customer reviews and feedbacks or visit reliable forums and read up about them. Check with the Better Business Bureau or other entities that has a list of legitimate companies.
How long have they been around? Most internet home business scams never make it to their five year mark. Being around for five years or more is one of the signs that the online business is legitimate and that they will not be flying off anywhere.
Do they offer a real product or service that gives real value for your money? Is there a demand for what they are offering? A product or service that is regularly used will ensure that there will be a continuous demand for it from returning and new customers and a steady sales stream for you. Check out whether the product or service is superior as against the competitor so you can gauge on whether there will always be a demand for it.
Research about their business system
When you are just starting off in a home based business, chances are that you do not have any idea on online marketing techniques and strategies. Will the online home business opportunity that you are researching give you marketing training and support? Do you have a mentor or sponsor who you can consult with for advice or who can assess your marketing efforts? If you do, how is he compensated? Does he make money out of the sales you make? This is recommended so that your sponsor will not look at you as a competitor and will help you grow instead as he benefits from your growth.
Research about the compensation scheme
The point of setting up a home based business is to earn. It is therefore important to know what the compensation scheme is. How much is the commission or profit per transaction? Is it high enough for you to live on? Or will there be enough demand for the product that the high level of sales would translate to a livable income. Will it generate residual income so that even as you sleep, the money is coming in? Will you be receiving income from the work of other members? As much as one yearns for a substantial home based business income, it is still a warning sign of a scam if the home based opportunity is a get rich quick opportunity. A legitimate online home business is just like any other business. It requires hard work and dedication to make it a success. But before plunging into any business, do your homework first.
