Money seems to be pretty tight for almost everyone these days. Different people handle their economic stress in different ways, and some strategies work better than others. If they have the health and energy to do so, some people are working extra jobs or shifts. Others are starting their own businesses. Many are getting into the “do-it-yourself” mentality and trying to handle as many of their jobs as possible without having to pay others for home improvements, care repairs, child care, photography, DJ service, or anything else if they can afford it. While the concept of self-reliance is great, there is also something to be said for being realistic about your limitations and investing in expert service that will get the job done right the first time. For instance, Pittsburgh is a great city for do-it-yourselfers. It’s an old city with long-standing businesses that reflect traditional craftsmanship, so many people have grown up learning how to do their own plumbing, roofing, wiring, carpentry, cooking, car repairs, and other important jobs. This is great as long as you actually know what you are doing, but other crafts are not as easy to pick up for the average person. Some jobs are easier than they look and some jobs are harder. Most people would have no idea how to even scratch the surface of the full possibilities. When you have an event to plan, it makes sense to have things like the music, pictures, and other crucial elements handled by someone who does it all the time.

Then, of course, there is the complication factor. Weddings tend to become exponentially more complicated as you involve more people and more factors. Even if you consider yourself an experienced event planner, you are probably going to need help with many aspects of the day – DJ service, equipment rental, wedding / engagement photography - then you can develop a relationship with that group and you never have to worry about these things. Some people may see differently, but I would rather worry about paying a few more dollars than worry about the thousands of other things that are involved in keeping a big event going smoothly. It is worth it to get the job done right so that you can relax and enjoy yourself.
