The term ‘Shaving’ for men with sensitive skin is an absolute nightmare. It is said that more than one in three men experience red and rashes even with a slightest grooming provocation. No matter what you do, you get irritation and ingrown hairs due to shaving on sensitive skin. But, you don’t have to live that way. Though there is no hard and fast solution for shaving with sensitive skin, these tips could lower your chances of irritation –

Cleanse

Do not use that low quality soap that you bought from the corner store on your skin. Instead invest in a high-quality gel skin cleanser that is free from alcohol or irritants and helps you stay healthy.

Moisturise

The best way to choose a good moisturiser is to get the one with zero alcohol, irritants or perfumes. It should be gentle and work best on skin. Usually, people with sensitive skin type have skin problems that run both between both dry scaly skin and oily slick skin. A good moisturiser will help balance both even if you run a straight edge razor over your skin.

Invest in Good Blades

Do you know, dull and disposable blades are damaging to the sensitive skin, as they cause a flammable situation. Also, changing the barber blade after every two shaves could end up consuming more expenses when compared with the straight edge razor.

Be Gentle On Your Skin

When running your barber razor on your skin, apply only light blade pressure. Let go off the hair grains that are stubborn. This is because when you go against the grain, it often results in inflammation and skin breakouts. Also using shave oil would improve the razor glide and bring down the skin irritation.

Clean the Blade Frequently

When you shave, there are many chances that the excess cream and the trimmed hair gets junked up in the razor. So, rinse the blade after every three to four strokes to get rid of the build-up. If you leave the build-up to remain in the razor, it would hinder the smooth glide of the razor and cause rashes.

Avoid Shaving Everyday

Men with sensitive skin must avoid shaving on a daily basis. Instead, they can try shaving every two to three days. Still you might face some stubble, but it is far better than having an inflamed face.

Get a Treatment

You don’t have to live with an uncomfortable complexion, rashes or excessive ingrown. Instead, you can try out the various shaving balm that can reverse the irritation effects. It is always better to avoid the problem by following effective shaving routines.
