The investment incentives like FTAs and low transportation costs for shipping are among the major pullers for steel and cement producers. The most interesting part is that despite being hit by economic slowdown, this country manages to sustain high levels of GDP growth and foreign investments. As a result, the boom in economy continues generating large number of jobs in Jordan.

One of the major problems of Jordan is its huge dependence on oil imports as the increase in their prices is putting enormous pressures on the economy. But, the focus of government on domestic developments in the form of housing and economic zones development initiatives is very promising. It is inviting knowledge based investments to create more and more jobs in Jordan so as to develop the economy and employ its own manpower in the process. According to Global Trade Enabling report, Jordan stood 4th in the Arab World last year after UAE, Bahrain and Qatar. The market access, the business environment, the transport and communications infrastructure and the border administration of the country were analyzed in the report. With Jordan included in top 5 countries to trade globally, it is evident that the country is an ideal trading destination for investors around the world.

Some of the other sectors offering jobs in Jordan include tourism, banking and real estate. It is especially dependent on future exports of uranium and ICT i.e. information and communication technologies along with trading and tourism of course. Even though the country is known for hiring semi-skilled workers, it is now increasingly offering career opportunities to the highly skilled expats. It is the 1st Arab country to incorporate these migrants in the labor law extending a wide range of benefits to them.

Among the most amazing facts on Jordan is that 2 Jordanian companies are listed in the Forbes Global 2000 list. Another one is that Amman, the country capital is the 4th most expensive city in the Arab World after Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Beirut.
