The publication of their work was known as ‘Hydrophilic gels for biological use’. Within very short time of only few years their work became popular. Their soft lenses were polymer base with higher rate of oxygen permissibility. These contact lenses could be kept put on for longer time except the time for bathing and sleeping. Previously the hard contact lenses needed a period of adaptation with the eye before it could be put on for a longer time.
