They can even be folded in such a way that they have a small pocket to hold silverware. Napkins can be made of paper, but the ones that are folded into more elaborate shapes are typically made of cloth. They are a fantastic way to accessorize any place setting.
If you want to do something special to commemorate a holiday or special event in your family, you can use the napkins. One idea that you can use is to make your own cloth napkins. You can use any fabric you like, but remember that if the fabric is rather thin, the food or liquid can easily seep through. One way to solve this problem is to sew a couple of pieces of cloth together with the right sides facing out. Another idea that you can use to make your napkins more unique is to decorate them. If you have ones that are made of plain cloth, then you can use them as a canvas for your creations. Fabric paint is wonderful for this purpose because it will stay on the napkins even when they are washed. If it is the holiday season, you can paint holly leaves and berries on a corner of each napkin. For Thanksgiving, you can paint leaves in the assorted fall colors. Just use a little creativity and you will have napkins to go with each holiday of the year.
There are many different ways that you can fold your napkins. You can do a search on the Internet and find instructions to make almost any shape that you would like. However, if you find that you are not skilled at folding them, you can purchase or make napkin rings that will still look fantastic and hold your napkins in place.
