When one thinks of great German motoring the VW Beetle automatically comes to mind. When you think of a British motoring icon then the Mini springs to mind.

The original Mini was produced by the British Motor Corporation (BMC), since then the Mini has been owned by many brands including British Leyland, Austin, Rover and now BMW.

In 2001 BMW unveiled the modern day Mini, like the classic Mini the new one is a small city car. The first BMW model came with a 1.4 litre and a 1.6 litre petrol engine. The convertible Mini followed in 2005, the Cooper and Cooper S models were also introduced. Roots of the classic Mini were further highlighted with the introduction of the John Cooper Works Mini.

In 2007 BMW launched the all new Mini hatchback on a re-engineered platform, which has many stylistic and engineering changes. Although the new 2007 Mini may look very similar to the 2001 used Mini in Scotland, every panel is in fact different.

10 years on since BMW’s first iteration of the Mini and they are celebrating in style. MINI is offering the chance to win a whole host of prizes, including a trip to Cape Canaveral. Did you know that more than a third of us Brits own a Mini and Minis have travelled around 15 billion miles on UK roads? This is the equivalent of going around the world 600,000 times or doing 33,000 return trips to the moon.
