The last quarter of 2011 is filled with new releases in terms of mobile phones. Last month, Apple released its much awaited smartphone the iPhone 4S. This November, the Google-acquired Motorola Mobility is set to revive the most iconic handset in history. This is the RAZR. Since both handsets are fresh out of the production line, it may be a confusing task choosing between the two. Let's get to know the phones' features to help you decide between the two.
When it comes to touch screens, Apple's new handset sports the same display with its predecessor the 4th generation iPhone. It sports a 3.5 inch Retina Display with a resolution of 640 x 960 pixels. This panel sports one of the tightest pixel densities the industry has to offer.
Motorola's new handset comes with a bigger display. It sports a 4.3 inch Super AMOLED capacitive touch screen. However, it offers a lower resolution at 540 x 960 pixels. It may not offer better resolution. However, it does have more real estate to offer for your touch interface needs.
When it comes to high-speed 3G internet capabilities, both smartphones share similar capabilities. The iPhone 4S will allow you to download at 14.4 MBPS. The Motorola RAZR can do the same. When it comes to uploading, the Cupertino firm's handset can upload at speeds of up to 5.8 MBPS. Motorola's revival of a legend can upload at speeds of up to 5.76 MBPS. Both handsets have Wi-Fi capabilities.
The two phones come packed with superior processors under the hood. The Apple iPhone 4S comes packed with a 1 GHz dual-core ARM Cortex-A9 processor Apple A5 chipset under the hood. It also comes with a dedicated PowerVR SGX543MP2 GPU for better graphics when playing games. The Motorola RAZR comes packed with a more powerful 1.2 GHz dual-core Cortex-A9 CPU TI OMAP 4430 chip set under the hood. It also comes with a PowerVR SGX540 GPU for better graphics when gaming.
When software comes to mind, Apple's smartphone is pre-installed with the latest iteration of the iOS the iOS 5. This comes with new features such as Twitter integration and iMessage. Motorola's handset is pre-installed with the Android OS version 2.3 (Gingerbread). Since Ice Cream Sandwich is now available on Android's new flagship the Samsung Galaxy Nexus, rest assured Ice Cream Sandwich will roll out to Motorola's new blower by next year.
As you can see both handsets are two of the most powerful handsets in the market. All you have to do now is choose. Will it be the Motorola RAZR or the Apple iPhone 4S?
