The procedure, developed as an alternative to the old procedure requiring long incision in the eye and longer hospital stay and post care and recovery time, has been able to reduce the pain involved by limiting the incision for the surgery to a very small length.
This procedure also involves smaller cut in the eye thus making the recovery time much smaller than what was in the case of older procedures. This procedure requires monitoring of heart rate and blood pressure despite the fact that the anaesthesia used is a localised one.
