College algebra is a syllabus or we can say that it is the portion of algebra that is taught to college level students. In college algebra we read lots of mathematical topics, whose applications are used in daily life. Do you know what is probability? You are thinking that we use this word many times in day to day life like probably I will come to school tomorrow or probably this team will win match and many such types of possibilities. In common terms we can say that probability is used to mean the chance that a particular event will occur or not in terms of percentage from 0% to 100%. If we talk in mathematical terms then probability is the branch of math that deals with the study of possible outcomes of given events together with the outcomes, relative likelihoods and distribution. The analysis of events governed by probability is called as statistics.

Now, move on to part of probability that is conditional probability. A conditional probability is defined as the possibility that event A will occur when the sample space is limited to event B. we represent conditional probability as P(A | B), and it is read as “probability of Event A given B”. In this symbol A and B are separated by a vertical line. Don't make mistake and never consider this as probability of event A|B. It can also be written as P.B(A). now look on conditioning of an event, lets say that we have two events A and B in the same probability space with P(B)>0, the conditional probability of A given B is defined as the quotient of the point probability of A and B, and arrange the marginal probability of B:

P(A|B) = P(A B) / P(B)

This may be elucidated using Venn diagram.

Now, fractions, it means a portion of any thing. Fraction is mainly formed with the help of numerator and denominator. For example 2/3, 4/5, 7/9,etc are the fractions. Simplifying fractions is very simple an in this we try to reduce the fraction In simple form. For simplifying fractions either we can take greatest common factor and divide the numerator and denominator from it or you can take a common factor and divide the fraction until no more common factors left. For example

4/8 is any fraction, we can divide both numerator and denominator by 4(GCF) or by 2 and then again by 2 as it is common factor, both will give same result as ½, and it is simplified fraction.
