Friends, today we are going to learn about Algebra equations. As we all know an equation is a mathematical expression which shows the equality of two expressions. For example 2x + y = 6.

Algebra is a branch of mathematics in which letters and symbols are used in place of numbers and quantities to form an equation and formula. Algebraic expressions is basically an expression having one or more variables made up of signs and symbols of algebra. Symbols can be Arabic numerals, alphabets along with mathematical operators. Let's take an example:

3x – 4y = c

Here x and y are variables, c is a constant, 3 is a coefficient of variable x and 4 is a coefficient of variable y.

As we move towards higher education, the algebra problems becomes tougher and more complex. A daily practice will help you to gain confidence. There are many online math tutorials and Algebra solvers available which will help you to understand it better.

Algebraic expressions can be of three types. Algebraic expression having single term known as Monomial, expression with two terms is known as Binomial whereas expressions with more than two terms or having three terms are known as Trinomial. Examples 4xy = monomial, 8x – 7y : Binomial, 2x + 2y – c : Trinomial

Terms are of two types, Like terms or Unlike terms. Terms that has the same power of the same variables are called Like terms whereas the terms that do not contain the same power of the same variables are called Unlike terms.

The steps for solving equations are:

Firstly remove all the fractions in the equation Then remove the parentheses . Combine all the like terms so that we get all the variables and terms together. Move all the variable terms by adding or subtracting on both sides of the equal sign so the variable terms are all on one side of the equal sign. And finally if there is any multiplication sign then remove it by dividing.

For example:

4z = 16 then divide both the side by 4

4z / 4 = 16/4

we get z = 4.

So a little daily practice will definitely help you in making algebra an interesting subject.
