It's often just a developmental stage. Bed-wetting is also known as nighttime incontinence or nocturnal enuresis. Generally, bed-wetting before age 6 or 7 isn't cause for concern. At this age, nighttime bladder control simply may not be established.

Symptoms of Bed Wetting

1. Frequency, urgency, or burning on urination
2. Straining, dribbling, or other unusual symptoms with urination
3. Wetting during the day
4. Cloudy or pinkish urine, or blood stains on underpants or pajamas
5. Constipation
6. Soiling, being unable to control bowel movements (fecal incontinence or encopresis)

Treatment of Bed Wetting

1. Reassure your child that this is standard at this age and not his fault and understand that he is not doing it on purpose. Also, do not discipline or blame your child for wet the bed and make sure that other family members do not tease him about it.

2. Avoid letting your child drink large amounts of fluid two hours before bedtime.

3. Have your child use the toilet just before going to bed.

4. Protect the bed with a plastic cover between the sheets and mattress.

5. Let your child help change the wet sheets.

6. Consider involved bladder-stretching movements, in which your child will try and increase the time flanked by urinating during the daytime so that the bladder can learn to make bigger and hold more urine at night.

Home Remedies for Bed Wetting

The child should be given two walnut halves and a teaspoon of raisins before retiring to the bed at night. This is one of the effective home remedies for bed wetting.

One should not feed the child with water two to four hours before bedtime.
Provide stress free environment to the child.

Bananas are to be given.

One can go for chewing the cinnamon bark once in a day. It is one of the common home remedies for bed wetting.

Try to avoid sweets, meat, false additives and too much of fruits.
The mental therapy is the first and leading therapy to be used to the child suffering from the bed wetting.

Mix Sarson fine particles in a cup of milk, and give to the child at night previous to going to bed.

Some therapists suggest that massage on the bladder (the pelvic) area will be surely helpful.
