Tennessee is one of the most bio-diverse states in the nation. There are Currently there are 315 different species of fish, 77 mammals, 56 reptiles, 70 amphibians, and 340+ birds that have been seen. It is a haven for hunters and wildlife watchers of all kinds to enjoy.

For the wildlife watcher, there are many different kinds of species to seek after. Frogs and toads are two of the most popular kinds of wildlife that are sought after in Tennessee. There are 21 different species of frogs and toads that reside in the Tennessee wilderness. Along with toads and frogs, there are also various kinds of salamanders, snakes and waterfowl.

Before going on a wildlife seeking adventure, it is very important to educate yourself on the risk of entering the environment of wild animals. For the sake of human, animal and plant life, risks must be understood and accepted.

In addition, hunters can also obtain permits for small game such as Beaver, Bobcat, Coyote, Gray Fox, Grouse, Mink, Muskrat, Opossum, Otter, Quail, Rabbit, Raccoon, Red Fox and Skunk. Permits are available for bow and gun hunting, trapping and fishing to both residents and non-residents.

The Smokey Mountain National Park is one of the most beautiful national parks in the entire country. Located in northern Tennessee, this tail end of the Appalachian Mountain Range provides breathtaking scenery for hiking, camping, fishing, horseback riding and picnicking. Guided tours can take you to waterfalls, hikes and teach about the wildlife and history. Over eight million people visit the Smokey Mountain National Park a year and has continued to stay naturally beautiful.

The Tennessee wildlife resources agency makes sure that this forest is well preserved and cared for. They have continually planned and implemented ideas to preserve endangered species of animals and plants as well as maintaining the eco system. This is the reason why visitors have continually visited the Tennessee wildlife every year.

Nashville is by far the most well known part of Tennessee that has put the state on the map. However, driving through Tennessee to enjoy all of the beautiful wonders will surprise you and take your breath away. Don’t skip over or underestimate what the Tennessee wildlife has to offer.
