Although most of us find this idea quite laughable – person living off the money given to him or her by simply finding matches between two people, the legacy lives on. Although the now people have turned to matrimonial sites for help, the matchmaking business lives on. 1996 was the year when Indian martrimonial websites came into foray. This year was he beginning of an era where marriages would be made on the Internet. At that time, most website did not allow people to post matrimonial profile free of cost. But today things have change considerably. Now people are allowed to post their profiles and update them for free.Even NRIs or Non resident Indians, have the option to post their profiles online in these websites, so that Indian men or women can look them up. There are a number of websites that offer these services in particular, and play matchmaker to a lot of couples. The successful relationships are even advertised in the websites. One should be really careful of fake profiles because no matter how reliable a website claims to be, there are always some loopholes that might just escape our notice. We simply need to use our discretion, and arrive at the correct conclusion. A website cannot be blamed for human errors after all. This business has found a foothold in India, because of the numerous religions and the castes of the people. Most people still do not like the inter-caste or inter-religion marriages and tend to look down on the mixed marriages. For them, the Indian matrimonial provide the perfect platform to search for a suitable boy or a girl. Annoying as it sounds, the demands for a fair complexioned girl has risen higher and higher with time. Whereas very qualified girl finds it difficult to find a match for them, because most men do not like having an actual “better” half. The Bible describes marriage to be “holy matrimony”, wherein divine grace prevails. But these days, marriages have become almost equivalent to business deals. Even though dowries have been banned, we still run across news about wife torture and wife beating due to no payment of dowry. Therefore, the question arise – where is the holiness in this marriage. These web sites can only guide to find a partner, but whether that partner would be a good one or a bad, that you will have to judge for yourself. A profile which costs nothing to be put up should be viewed with a skeptic eye. People could be lying, as it is only human to do so. While some people have had a pleasant experience using these matrimonial sites, others had to face a lot of problems and uncalled for hazards for indulging in them.
