The standard sizes of mattresses available in market are: Double/Full: 54" wide, 75" long; Queen: 60" wide, 80" long; KING: 76" wide, 80" long; Twin: 39" wide, 75" long; Twin Extra Long: 38" wide; 80" long; California KING: 72" wide, 84" long.
There are number of mattresses in the market, many factors are involved while purchasing a mattress.
1. There is a huge variety of mattresses in the market some are cheap and some are expensive, it’s up to you that which type you like. If you have a limited budget then its better to buy a cheap one that is affordable for you. But I recommend the finest mattress available in the market or a box spring you can afford. I am recommending you because once I bought the mattresses that were based on the cost and I never feel relaxed on them, and then I arrange my budget and buy the mattress that was finest in the market. Now I feel much relaxed and fresh while taking sleep on them.
2. Size is an important factor while purchasing a mattress. If you are going to buy a mattress for the young boy then I suggest you to take a twin size mattress. And if you are buying for a major person and two people are there to use it then I recommend you to take a queen size mattress. If you are able to take a king size, I strongly recommend you that one.
Now I have a king size and I am enjoying it as it is more comfortable having big space for me and my mate. If you think that a full size mattress is big enough and takes more space of your room then must think that it gives each person same amount of bed width as in a baby crib. Queen size mattress is also affordable for two persons, but in it 10.5 inches less size will be available to a single person if compared with twin bed.
3. Third most important priority while buying a mattress is its comfort, softness, and firmness. Visit different stores and examine these things by lying on the mattresses. Firm mattress is not a good choice as it depends on the individual. If you and your fellow are interest in different firmness levels then you can check the mattress having different firmness levels at each side. In the end if your budget is not a problem for you in buying a mattress then comfort might be your first priority.

4. This should be very clear top you that never go for the name or brand, firm or extra firm have no importance; the actual thing is comfort that you can enjoy. You must be satisfied and feel relaxed while lying down on the mattress. Don’t visit the shops in such a way that you feel it’s a stupid job. Just try to achieve your goal and then finalize your choice. Try to take your coat and shoes off while lying down on the mattress so that you can come to know the real comfort of it.
