The problem of drug addiction is one of the biggest problems these days. It is an alarming fact that these days it is the younger generation who are mostly the victim of drug addiction. And for that reason it is often seen that whenever you go for an interview to a company you are asked to go through a drug test whether you are willing to go for it or not. Though it is true that you are always free to decide whether you want to go for the test or not, but the fact is that it is included in the eligibility criteria of getting the job. Therefore if you are not willing to go through the drug test proposed by your employer you should bid farewell to the job you seek. Though it is termed as optional but in reality it is enforced by the employers as one of the eligibility criteria of getting the job. Not only at the time of appointment but also after you have got the job your employer may ask you to go through the drug tests. Therefore, if you think that the workplace drug testing is a onetime process then you are greatly mistaken as you can never be sure when your employer would ask you to go for the drug test.
Because of all these reasons the workplace drug testing is considered as an invasion in your private affairs as the drug test can reveal a lot of things like pregnancy and other prescription drug usage which one may not want to reveal anyway. Therefore, for these reasons the workplace drug testing is not welcome to the employees but the employers are also not to be blamed in this respect. It is obvious that the employers would always demand for the best performance from their employees, therefore, they would never tolerate any sort of inefficiency on the part of their employees just because of their drug addiction. Moreover, as in most countries the drug abuse is considered as illegal therefore it is a risk for the company if any of their employees is found to be addicted to any sort of illegal drugs.
Still though these reasons are valid on the part of the employers it is a fact that workplace drug testing is a forceful act in some way or the other and therefore it is rightly called as an invasion on the personal affairs of the employees. This is really a matter to be thought of. Moreover, as the drug test can reveal a lot of personal facts therefore it is essential that what ever other than the drug abuse is found in the drug test the company is liable to keep those things secret for the sake of privacy of their employees.
Because of the frequency of the drug tests conducted at the work place there are several employees who are thoughtful about their upcoming drug test. Therefore if you are not sure of the certainty of your passing the drug test there are also several options that can be used like the detoxifying drugs and other such things that can help you a lot in passing your work place drug test.
