Over a couple of decades, India has emerged as one of the fastest growing economies worldwide. A free-market democracy, the country continues to spring up in both production industries and service sectors.

When probing the reasons behind this enormous growth, we find that it’s primarily due to the increasing size of middle class consumer, considerable foreign investments and of course, a satisfactory performance by our services sectors. Owing to its wonderful geographical features and astounding history & cultures, India is major holiday spot for tourists. Majority of International tourists to India are from USA and UK. Though all its corners draw tourists from far and wide, the top states to receive inbound tourists are Goa, Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Delhi and Rajasthan. Domestic tourism is growing rapidly as ever before. Presently, more than 700 million domestic tourists flock to various destinations in India, providing these destinations with great income and employment.

Steps Taken By Indian Government to Enhance Tourism:

Since tourism is a major source of economic growth, Ministry of Tourism formulates national policies and programs to develop and promote tourism in the country. Continuous efforts are being made to encourage new form of tourism like eco-tourism, medical and rural tourism. A well-improved infrastructure has been provided and various facilities have been established to put the travelers on comfort. Other than that that, liberalization in aviation sector and rationalization in tax rate are some good moves taken by the government. Moreover, tourist friendly Visa regime, immigration services and providing land to establish tourism facilities are other major policy initiatives taken by the government.
