It’s no accident that Vegas has the world’s best casinos (and why Nevada does so much to promote gambling, more than 40% of general fund state revenue comes from its gambling tax).

When cruising Las Vegas Casinos you’ll encounter a wide variety of options, different themes, many different games and rule variations.

Most casinos in Vegas are attached to big hotels so you as you might expect, some of the best casinos are attached to the big hotels like the Wynn, Bellagio and Venetian hotels, however when it comes to casinos bigger doesn’t necessarily mean better. Big hotels often don’t compete as aggressively for gamblers as the independent casinos and don’t necessarily offer the best comps (or any comps at all given the volume).

Although only about 5% of visitors to Las Vegas say they come there primarily to gamble (I guess the gamblers tend to move to Vegas as the city is one of the fastest growing in the U.S.), if you are serious about gambling you might want to give one of the independent casinos a try or perhaps hotels that focus less o, well, hotels, restaurants, shows, and nightclubs and look for those where gambling is it. A couple other things to consider when you’re looking playing at Vegas casinos. Don’t take a comp as a sign that you’re a VIP. Look at it more like that the casino thinks you’re going to lose money and wants to make you happy. Pay careful attention to betting limits and rule variations, they can make a big difference as to whether you lose a little or a lot.

However, the point of going to Vegas and picking a Las Vegas casino is to have fun so at the end of the day, if you’re not a professional gambler and just going to have some fun, play at the casino you like the best and forget about the rest of it.
