Rust can turn any valuable car or truck into a scrap in no time. We all seen, a brown stain on the door, a bubble in the paint at the bottom of a door, chipped or scratched paint – these are the signs the rust has started to begin its work.

Understanding the rusting process, the problematic areas, and the ways to address trouble means your pride and joy can stay on the road as long as you do.

Here we're going to discuss about the different types of rust and the ways to prevent them. The rust is classified into:

- Process Related
- Packaging Related
- Environmental Related

Process Related:

Whether it is the cleaning process or the metal fabrication process such as cold working, heat treating or machining, this aspect of producing a metal part is a primary contributor of corrosion.

Packaging Related:

The type of packaging can also be the active contributor of rust. Acidic materials such as corrugated and non-treated paper can hold moisture and cause corrosion.

Environmental Related:

While the weather (temperature and humidity) can certainly be the most obvious environmental factor, the metal exposed to atmosphere can be easily oxidized and rusting process begins.

When Dealing With Rust, The Color Is Indicative Of The Cause:

Yellow rust is wet and drippy, caused by high moisture and the presence of water somewhere on the metal's surface.

Brown rust is dry, caused by high oxygen and low moisture in the packaging or plant atmosphere. It's likely that the metal surface became contaminated during the manufacturing process.

Black rust is caused by limited oxygen. It's possible that the metal was covered by another part or packaging element, preventing oxygen from reaching the surface.

Car Rusting comes under the category of environmental related process. The unsightly orange-brown mess that accumulates on metal is a highly unattractive feature that plagues many different objects, especially cars, trucks, screws, bolts, and tools. One of the most common victims of rust and corrosion is a car or truck, where damage occurs on the exterior, under the carriage, under the hood of the vehicle.

Car Rust Prevention:

The rust that takes place on your vehicle can be prevented through frequent cleaning, rust proofing and waxing. Using rust proofing spray in car's undercarriage is also a must in order to keep it free of dirt and debris that is often responsible for the collection of moisture and formation of rust.

Rust can be a serious problem for your vehicle. The damage caused by rust can ruin body panels and even collapse the strength and rigidity of the vehicle's frame. Prevent these issues by properly taking care of your vehicle's exterior with the use of rust inhibitor spray and taking action when signs of rust begin to appear!
