The EIDA Registration has made the national ID compulsory for individuals who are residing in the UAE. This article contains a detailed step-by-step process on how to go about getting this essential Emirates ID.
When individuals are planning to reside in the country of UAE, they are expected to register their identity with the government. This process was carried out to ensure that residents have a smooth and beneficial stay here, where they can avail of benefits from the government while the government themselves can keep a check on the residents simultaneously. In this article, we will give the exact procedure for the EIDA Registration that one needs to undergo to be registered with the government.

Step 1: Application Form

First, the applicant must get an application form. It can be either downloaded from the official website or one can approach the centre and get a form. You will have to go to an official typing center where your application should be filled and typed out. You will have to bring your passport and the passport of the family members before you approach the official center along with the necessary fees that have to be paid for each application. Once your form has been filled with the accurate details, the typing centre will type out the form where you will have to submit it for processing at the main centre. You will then need to wait for the official appointment where, your biometric data will be scanned, recorded, verified and stored.

Step 2: Biometric Scan

The EIDA Registration system has included the process where your biometric data will be scanned. You will be notified of your appointment via an SMS or an email. Once you have your appointment set, visit the center and you will get your fingerprint and iris scanned. Once this is done, the information will be processed and stored in a chip in your ID card which can be accessed when the card is used.

Step 3: Tracking

Normally, the verification process should not take more than a couple of weeks. Depending on the centre you have approached, it might take more than 2 to 3 weeks for your national card to be made. To stay in progress of your ID card, you can log onto the official website and log in your passport and reference id to get details and updates. If the process takes more than a month, contact the centre for updates.

Step 4: Collection

Once you have received an alert mentioning the delivery of the ID card, you can collect the card at the Post Office or have it delivered at your place.

The government at the EIDA Registration has gone to great lengths to ensure that this process for the national card is hassle free and problem free for the applicant. This ID card has to be mandatorily issued for all individuals above the age of 15 and is valid for a period of 5 years after which, it has to be renewed. If there are no changes during the renewal process, only the application process needs to be undergone without the biometric scans.
