When you’re in the middle of resume writing, having a few examples to use a reference tools is always a good thing. Examples can guide you towards creating a finished product that you can be proud to submit to prospective employers. Examples can also steer you away from mistakes that are commonly made in resumes.
Before you reap the benefits of using a few examples, however, you need to find a few well-crafted samples. There are plenty of places to look for examples, but a few will serve you better than most.
Books on Resume Writing – One of the most plentiful sources of examples you will find has to be the wide variety of books that have been written on this topic. Look for a book that has been published recently that you are seeing current examples. You may even have the good fortune of finding a book that offers examples that are relevant to your dream job or industry. Websites that Focus on Careers – The internet is filled with examples of what to do, as wells as what not to do while you are searching for your next job. You can begin your research at well-known sites, but don’t forget to look for a few other examples that cater to your specific situation. A quick search using Google’s search engine will reveal dozens of websites that may help you.
Associates and Peers – Examining the example set by a friend who has recently found a new position can also help you draft your own application. Your information will, of course, be different than your friend’s information. However, you may be able to glean useful insights into the format, style, and information that appeals to prospective employers right now. You’ll also want to pick his brain about the interview process before you start visiting employers’ offices.
Poring through examples during your resume writing endeavor won’t guarantee that your resume meets all the requirements of prospective employers. The time you spend researching will, however, ensure that you weigh all of the factors you should as your compose your application.
