However, next generation handsets often sport revamped designs that make them more unique. When it comes to the iPhone 4 and the 4S, there is no difference in terms of design.
Both phones sport the same dimensions. The two are 115.2 mm in height, 58.6 mm in width, and 9.3 mm in thickness. They are relatively the same when it comes to weight. The former is 137 grams and the later is 140 grams. They also sport the same buttons and same layout. They even come with the same 3.5 inch Retina Display. In a nutshell, they look exactly the same.
This was disappointing for Apple enthusiasts since they were expecting a lot of changes with the next generation smartphone. Apple's cult following expected a larger Retina Display since Android handsets came with 4 inch displays. Aside from a larger touch screen, people expected a revamped design, slimmer profile, and rounded edges. When the new handset was unveiled back in October of this year, there were a lot of fans who were disappointed.
Despite the 4S looking exactly like the iPhone 4, it did come with features and hardware that its predecessor did not have. One of these is its processor. It comes packed with the 1 GHz dual-core A5 chip. This is the same CPU found on the iPad 2. This ensured users unsurpassed performance when watching 1080p videos and multi-tasking. When it comes to gaming, it will allow users to enjoy more from hardcore games such as Infinity Blade 2.
Aside from the phone's processor, it also has an enhanced camera compared the 5 megapixel camera on the iPhone 4. The 4S sports an 8 megapixel camera that can record videos in 1080p. Coupled with image enhancements that come with Apple's new software, you are sure to enjoy more from more high-quality captured images.
The iOS 5 is now available for all capable Apple devices. This means that both predecessor and successor now have the latest version of the iOS. However, regardless of running the latest software version, the 4S still comes with an application unique to the model. This is Siri. It is a voice-activated personal assistant that has been creating waves. Ask Siri just about anything, and she will do her best to get you the information and perform the task you need to be done.
Despite both phones sporting exactly the same design, the latest version does have more to offer. It comes packed with the most powerful hardware Apple has to offer. Furthermore, it comes with Siri. The iPhone 4 and 4S may look the same. However, the latest model has more to offer.
