In fact sugar cookies are a very common snacks item of every American household. Nonetheless they can be the perfect home made Christmas treat for your child and so know how to make them.
The following items make some mouth-watering cookies. The se include 2 ¾ cups of all- purpose flour, 1 egg, 1 cup soft butter, 1 ½ cups of white sugar, ½ teaspoon of baking powder, 1 teaspoon of baking soda and vanilla extract.
A mixture has to be made combining the flour, baking soda and the baking powder. Then in a big bowl, cream butter and sugar has to be mixed. The egg and vanilla has to be stirred. Then mixing the dry materials with the whole thing, balls have to be made. The balls have to be placed in the greased cookie sheets and to be put in a 375 degree F preheated oven to be baked for 8 to 10 minutes. After it was done, those have to be cooled before being decorated with frost or sugar.
To make cookies in a traditional way, 3 cups of all-purpose flour, 1 egg, 3 tablespoons cream, 1 teaspoon vanilla extract, ½ teaspoon salt, 1 ½ teaspoons of baking powder, 1 cup of white sugar and butter are needed.
At first a mixture has to be made with flour, baking powder, sugar and salt. Then the butter has to be stirred well along with the egg, vanilla and cream. Dough of 1/8 inch thick has to be made with all the things. They are to be cut into shapes and are to be put on a greased cookie sheet to be put in a 400 degree F preheated oven. The baking was to continue for 8 to 10 minutes.
To make cookies with icing on it, 2 teaspoon of milk, 1 cup of confectionary sugar, 2 teaspoon of light corn syrup, ½ teaspoon of vanilla extract and some food colors are to be mixed together. At first the milk and the sugar are to be mixed in a bowl. Then the corn syrup and the vanilla extract are to be beat till the icing becomes soft and silky. The icings are to be separated in different bowls to add food colors. Then the icing has to be painted on the cookies or can be used with the pipes for garnishing as icing tubes and tips. For garnishing, balls, holiday dusts etc can also be used.
